Is Drug Pricing Overly Complicated?

PBMs are critical to providing access to affordable, quality health care. Without PBMs, the cost of prescription drugs would be driven up, and access to critical prescription drugs for vulnerable populations, as well as employer-provided health insurance, would be limited.

More than 120 million Americans over the age of 12 take prescription drugs to manage chronic conditions, temporary ailments, or for overall long-term health and well-being. And while the number of people taking prescription drugs is increasing, so too, is pricing, making it one of the top concerns of patients.

According to a January 2021 study conducted by Harvard University and Politico, federal action to lower drug prices ranks as the second highest healthcare policy priority for the public.
